Curriculum Information

Curriculum Statement

Anclote's curriculum is based on the Common Core Standards, Sunshine State Standards and the Grade Level Expectations determined by the state of Florida and the Pasco County Schools District.  Within a Continuous Progress setting, our children are encouraged to reach their highest potential in all academic and social areas. In order to tap individual needs and talents, we have many opportunities that reach beyond the scope of our classrooms to extend and encourage our children's growth.

Extended Day Program

Our Extended Day Program is an opportunity for us to give additional academic support to our students in reading, writing and math. Children are invited to participate in classes that extend beyond the regular school day and engage in activities to improve their level of achievement.

4H Tropicana Speech Contest

Our annual 4H Tropicana Speech Contest is a delightful way for our students to develop their ability to write an original speech and practice their oral speaking. The topics and the students' delivery are truly entertaining and never cease to amaze and amuse!

Science Fair Information

Our annual Science Fair is an exciting event which challenges all our Third, Fourth and Fifth Grade students to either design an original invention or perform an experiment following the scientific method of testing an original hypothesis.

Reading

Our reading program is aligned with the grade level expectations of the state and the philosophy of Pasco County. Our teachers are trained to deliver to all students a Balanced Literacy Program which immerses our students in daily writing, reading, and listening activities. All of our students K-5, are taught phonemic awareness, phonic skills, comprehension and vocabulary strategies to encourage their reading ability. Our teachers use the MMH Treasures Reading Series and a wide variety of materials and methods:

  >to deliver their instruction,

  >to support and encourage students, and

  >to increase the enjoyment of reading.

Math

Our Math curriculum is based on the Common Core State Standards and the Sunshine State Standards. Using these guidelines, our teachers prepare lessons and learning activities which challenge our students in problem-solving skills and applications.

Science

The Science curriculum is based on the Common Core State Standards and the Sunshine State Standards. Teachers promote hands-on activities that develop the scientific method and appreciation of the nature of science. Through a thematic approach, our students learn about their world and integrate their knowledge with other curricula areas.

Social Studies

The Social Studies curriculum is based on the Common Core State Standards and the Sunshine State Standards. Teachers develop integrated lessons that encourage the students' understanding of people, communities, our government, and current events.
